How Wipro Interviews in 2026: Process, Questions & What They Score

HOW TO READ THIS PLAYBOOK

Compiled from 20 public sources: candidate interview reports, coaching guides, and Wipro's own hiring pages. Interview processes change and vary by role, team, level, and region. This is one well-documented shape of Wipro's interviews to prepare against, not a script of what your interview will be. Confirm specifics with your recruiter. Wipro is best known as a large-scale Indian IT services and outsourcing provider, and the track it is best known for hiring into is entry-level software and support engineering in India, filled at volume through its campus and off-campus fresher programs (Elite National Talent Hunt, commonly written NLTH or NTH by candidates and coaching sites, plus related tracks such as WILP). This dossier covers that fresher engineering track in detail and adds a shorter lateral/experienced-hire path at the end, because that is where public evidence exists. Wipro does not publish an evaluation framework or rubric for candidates: all three Wipro careers pages fetched for this dossier (the main careers page, the Early Careers page, and the Elite program subpage) describe programs, values and equal-opportunity commitments but state no hiring stages, no competencies and no scoring criteria, so frameworkName, framework and frameworkNotes are null here. Wipro's own Early Careers page names the track "Elite" and describes it as "Wipro's Technical Graduate Hiring Program"; the fuller name "Elite National Talent Hunt" and the NLTH/NTH abbreviations are candidate- and coaching-site terminology, not language pulled from an official Wipro page. Everything in the timeline below therefore comes from coaching sites, a Wipro-hosted registration page for one recruitment cycle, and candidate write-ups, not from an official Wipro process description. The recurring shape across independent sources is: apply or register, sit a timed online assessment that combines aptitude, a written-communication essay and two coding problems, then one or more interview rounds, then documentation and background verification before the offer. Sources disagree on whether the interview stage is two separate rounds (a technical interview, then a distinct HR interview) or one combined round that Wipro itself calls a "Business Discussion"; both structures appear in the fetched sources, and this dossier keeps both named stages while flagging the disagreement rather than asserting either shape as current. Two features distinguish the online assessment from other IT services processes in the fetched sources: the essay is a separately timed, separately scored section rather than an afterthought, and the coding section allows only C, C++, Java or Python. Durations between stages are not stated by any source that was fetched, so they are marked "varies".

The Process

  1. 1

Online application or program registration · varies

Candidates apply through the Wipro careers portal, a campus drive, or a program registration route such as the Elite NTH/NLTH portal. Timing varies by whether the candidate enters on-campus, off-campus, or through a job posting; no fetched source states how long screening takes.

  2. 2

Pre-placement talk (optional, campus drives only) · varies

An HR-led session covering the company, the role and the placement terms. placementpreparation.io explicitly labels it optional; unstop.com lists it as a stage without using the word optional or mandatory. It does not appear in off-campus accounts, and no duration is stated.

  3. 3

Online assessment: aptitude, written communication essay and coding · 128 minutes

The most consistently reported pattern is three timed sections totalling about 128 minutes: aptitude covering quantitative, logical and verbal ability (about 48 minutes), one written-communication essay (20 minutes), and two coding problems in C, C++, Java or Python (60 minutes). Sources agree there is no negative marking. Variation is wider than a single alternate figure: one source states 132 minutes with 48 questions in 52 minutes of aptitude, another notes shorter 60-minute and 80-minute formats (the 60-minute version drops coding; a Wipro-hosted registration page for one Elite NTH cycle describes an 80-minute version that still includes coding), and Wipro's own general GeeksforGeeks-hosted recruitment-process description gives a broader 90-to-120-minute range. One older campus account describes the same content as an AMCAT-style five-section paper. Treat any single figure as illustrative rather than fixed, and rely on the specific test invite for an exact cycle. This is an elimination round.

  4. 4

Group discussion (some drives only) · 15 to 20 minutes

Only one fetched source reports a group discussion, and it explicitly says it is not part of all drives, and that off-campus and some direct-application tracks skip it. Topics cited are social issues, technology trends and workplace subjects. Treat this as optional and drive-specific rather than standard.

  5. 5

Voice assessment (some recent drives only) · varies

One 2025-dated Elite NTH process page describes a voice-assessment round between the written test and the interview stage, screening pronunciation, fluency and grammatical accuracy and used to eliminate candidates on communication grounds. No other fetched source mentions this stage, so treat it as a possibly recent addition to some drives rather than a confirmed universal step, on the same evidentiary footing as the single-source group discussion stage above.

  6. 6

    Technical interview · 30 to 45 minutes

Reported as one round in most 2022-2023 accounts, occasionally two. Conducted remotely over video in recent campus accounts (one candidate reports Microsoft Teams). Covers CS fundamentals (OOP, DBMS and SQL, operating systems, computer networks, data structures), the languages named on the resume, and a detailed walkthrough of the final-year project or internship. Only one source states the 30 to 45 minute figure; other sources give no duration. Important caveat: some 2023-to-2025 sources, including a Wipro-hosted registration page for one Elite NTH cycle, describe the technical and HR rounds merged into a single interview Wipro itself calls a "Business Discussion." No fetched source states a duration for that merged round specifically (the 80-minute figure some pages cite belongs to the online assessment, not the interview), so its length is unknown. Whether a given drive runs one combined round or two separate rounds is not resolved by the sources fetched for this dossier; candidates should confirm the format for their specific drive rather than assume either structure.

  7. 7

    HR interview · 15 to 30 minutes

Final interview round in 2022-2023 candidate accounts. Covers self-introduction, motivation for Wipro, strengths and weaknesses, career goals, and logistics such as relocation, rotational or night shifts, and in older accounts the employment bond or service agreement. One candidate account reports it conducted by telephone, another over Microsoft Teams. Only one source states the 15 to 30 minute range. As with the technical interview above, some 2023-to-2025 sources describe this folded into the same single "Business Discussion" round rather than held separately, and no source gives that merged round's duration; see the technical interview stage note for detail. Treat the two-round structure here as one documented pattern, not the only one.

  8. 8

Documentation, background verification and offer · varies

Document collection, credential and academic verification, then the offer letter. One campus account reports roughly one week between the final interview and the result reaching the college, but no source states a general figure, so elapsed time here should be treated as unknown.

  9. 9

Experienced hires: recruiter screen · varies

Lateral path only. Resume review against experience, domain fit, notice period, compensation expectation and location. Evidence for the experienced track is thinner than for the fresher track and comes from coaching sites rather than candidate accounts.

  10. 10

Experienced hires: role-specific technical interview · varies

Lateral path only. One or more rounds on the specific technology stack, project ownership and client-facing work. Number of rounds varies by level and by the practice or account hiring.

  11. 11

Experienced hires: manager discussion · varies

Lateral path only. Stakeholder handling, delivery judgement and depth of support experience. Only one fetched source names this as a distinct stage; repeated fetches of that page returned inconsistent detail (one pass located it in a stage-comparison table, another only in general overview language), suggesting the underlying page is templated/generic content whose specifics should be treated with caution. Treat this stage as likely but not confirmed as a universal step.

  12. 12

Experienced hires: HR discussion, documents and offer · varies

Lateral path only. Expected CTC, notice period, background verification and joining timeline, then document collection and offer.

Coach's Tips

Treat the essay as a scored elimination section, not a formality. It is separately timed at 20 minutes for 100 to 400 words and one source states that essay performance and communication are weighted heavily in the selection decision. Practise writing full, structured 250-word answers under a timer, and proofread for grammar rather than reaching for length. This is the section that most distinguishes Wipro's assessment from a standard aptitude test.

Plan the coding section by budget, not by ambition. Two problems in 60 minutes with only C, C++, Java or Python available, and one source suggests roughly 20 minutes for the simpler problem and 40 for the DSA-heavy one. Decide your language before the test, and follow a fixed routine: restate input and output, name the edge cases, pick a data structure, write it, then dry-run it on paper.

Prepare the contrast pairs, because the technical round is built out of them. Sources repeatedly name primary key versus unique key, DROP versus TRUNCATE versus DELETE, process versus thread, TCP versus UDP, array versus linked list, structure versus union, and abstract class versus interface. Crisp two-sentence answers with one example each will carry more of this round than deep algorithmic ability.

Know every line of your own resume. A candidate account describes being asked to self-rate languages and then being questioned on exactly what they claimed, and multiple accounts describe a detailed walkthrough of the final-year project or internship. Do not list a technology you cannot explain end to end, including why you chose it.

Answer the logistics questions decisively. Relocation, night and rotational shifts, and in some programs an employment bond come up in the HR round in candidate accounts. Hesitation reads badly in a delivery-staffed organisation, so decide your real position beforehand, state it plainly, and ask for bond or service-agreement terms in writing rather than negotiating them live.

If you are applying as an experienced hire, prepare a different shape of interview. The lateral path reported by sources is recruiter screen, then role-specific technical rounds on your actual stack, then a manager discussion about stakeholder handling and delivery judgement (weakly sourced to a single, seemingly templated coaching page), then HR and documents. Have your expected CTC and notice period settled before the first call, and bring one concrete measurement from your own work, for example a query timing before and after adding an index.

Confirm whether your drive holds one interview or two. Some recent Elite NTH cycles combine the technical and HR conversation into a single round Wipro itself calls a Business Discussion, of unstated length, while many candidate accounts describe two separate rounds (30 to 45 minutes technical, 15 to 30 minutes HR). Ask your point of contact or check your invite so you pace your preparation and your answers correctly either way.
