Resume Builder

AI resume builder.

Answer one question at a time and the AI drafts your resume from your answers. Where you give it no number, it is instructed to write an xx placeholder and ask you for the real one.

SupaCV's Resume Builder is a conversation, not a form and not an upload. An AI model asks about your current role first and then your past roles, education, skills and contact details, writes bullets from what you say, and offers to finish once it has your name, one role with bullets, education and skills. Nothing checks what it writes against what you said, so you read every line.

What makes a first draft hard

Four problems, and the part of the builder that answers each.

A blank page is a hard place to start.

Starting from nothing means deciding what to write, in what order and how much of it.

What the builder does: The builder asks the questions. It starts with your current role and moves on to past roles, education, skills, contact details and a summary, so you only have to answer.

Your own words are not bullets yet.

What you did and how a resume line reads are different things, and the first is easier to say out loud than to write.

What the builder does: It drafts the bullets from your descriptions of the work. They are a draft in the editor, so you can rewrite any of them.

You do not remember the numbers.

A figure you half remember is easy to round up, and the resume is the document you will be asked about.

What the builder does: The AI is instructed never to invent a figure, a team size or an outcome. Where you give none it writes an xx placeholder and asks for the real one. You fill every placeholder before you send the Resume.

A conversation is not a file you can send.

What you need at the end is a document you can change and send, not a transcript.

What the builder does: The result is saved as a new Resume. Open it in the editor, change anything, and export it to PDF or DOCX.

How it works

Six steps, from the first question to a Resume you can edit and export.

  1. 1

Open the builder from My Resumes

With a plan that includes the builder, select Build from Scratch on My Resumes. The assistant opens the conversation by asking about your current or most recent role.

  2. 2

Answer one question at a time

Reply in your own words. After each answer the assistant acknowledges it and asks the next question, working through your current role, past roles, education, skills, contact details and a summary. It writes the bullets from your descriptions of the work.

  3. 3

Give it the numbers it asks for

Where an answer has no figure, the AI is instructed to write a placeholder in the bullet (xx for a count, xx% for a percentage, $xx for an amount) and to ask you for the real number in the same reply, then swap it in when you give it. A bullet with no number is fine when you have none.

  4. 4

    Watch the draft fill in

Chips above the conversation track what it has gathered: your contact details, work history, education and skills.

  5. 5

    Finish into the editor

The assistant offers to finish once it has your name, one role with bullets, education and skills. A banner then shows a count of what it holds, and Open in Editor saves the draft as a new Resume.

  6. 6

Edit it, export it, score it

The result is an ordinary Resume in My Resumes. Change anything in the editor, then export it to PDF or DOCX. To see how it scores, upload the exported file to the free ATS resume checker. To aim it at one posting, add a Target Role and tailor it.

What it does not do

The limits are part of how it works, so they are listed here.

  • Nothing checks the draft. The instruction not to invent a number, a team size or an outcome sits in the AI model's prompt, and no step compares the finished resume with what you told it: there is no number check and no fact check. Read every bullet, and replace or remove every xx before you send the Resume.
  • It builds from the conversation alone. No file and no posting go in, so a build is not aimed at any one posting. To start from a file you already have, upload it. To aim a Resume at one posting, tailor it on a Target Role. The builder never makes a Tailored Version.
  • Nothing in it looks for phrasing that reads as AI-written. The builder carries no list of phrases to avoid and no detector test, so edit the draft into your own voice before you send it.
  • Messages are limited by the hour, and a monthly fair-use budget for AI is shared with every AI tool in your plan. There is no monthly count of builds.

This is a first-draft tool. What happens after you send the Resume depends on you, the posting and the people reading it, and nothing here predicts it.

Frequently asked questions

Does the AI resume builder make up numbers or experience?+

It is instructed to use only what you tell it: not to invent a metric, number, team size, technology or outcome, and to write an xx placeholder where you gave no figure. That is an instruction to the AI model, and nothing checks the finished resume against what you said, so a bullet can still be wrong. Read every bullet, replace every xx with a real figure or reword the line, and cut anything you could not explain in an interview.

Do I need a resume or a job description to start?+

No. The builder works from the conversation alone, so nothing is uploaded and no posting goes in. If you already have a file, upload it instead. To aim a built Resume at one posting, add a Target Role and tailor it; the builder itself never makes a Tailored Version.

What happens to the conversation if I close the tab?+

Until you save, the conversation is kept in your browser for up to seven days and restored on your next visit. It is not saved to your account or synced to another device, and clearing the site data in your browser removes it. Saving the draft as a Resume clears the stored conversation.

Where do my answers go?+

The builder sends what you type to Anthropic's Claude, the AI model that writes the draft. SupaCV's privacy policy says Anthropic "does not train on it and deletes it within 30 days", and that no AI provider other than Anthropic generates anything you read.

Read the privacy policy→
Does the builder score the resume it writes?+

No. The conversation has no scoring step, and SupaCV makes no claim about how a built Resume fares in an applicant tracking system. To see a score, export the Resume as a PDF and upload the file to the ATS resume checker, which gives a score out of 100 from rule-based checks on the text of your file.
