Tailored Versions
Tailor your resume to the job description.
You approve every change. SupaCV reverts a bullet edit that adds a number the original bullet and your Career Vault do not show, or that turns “helped” into “led”.
SupaCV asks an AI model to draft a small set of edits to your resume for the posting on a Target Role: up to four bullet rewrites, one summary and a few skills. It does not rewrite your resume, and nothing changes on your resume until you have reviewed the edits and finished.
The ATS score is free with no credit card. Tailoring runs on a Target Role, and the plan table below shows which plans include it. A free check on the Target Role counts how many of the posting's must-have terms your resume already uses before you run anything, and it spends no tailoring run.
What gets in the way of tailoring
Four problems, and the part of SupaCV that answers each.
The posting uses different words than your resume.
A posting asks for the work in its own words and your resume uses yours, so a keyword search and a quick skim can both miss the match.
What SupaCV does: SupaCV takes the posting's must-have and core terms with fixed rules that read its section headings, not with an AI model, and the edits are written against those terms.
A rewrite can add what the original never said.
Asked to improve a bullet, an AI model can add a percentage, a tool name or a stronger verb that your resume does not support, and you would have to defend it in an interview.
What SupaCV does: Code checks every bullet edit before you see it, and reverts one that adds a number, a name or a list of teams, or that turns a shared-credit verb into an ownership verb.
Each Target Role needs its own copy of your Resume.
Each posting needs its own emphasis, and re-reading a whole resume for every one is slow. One Resume, a separate copy for each Target Role, is the shape that scales.
What SupaCV does: A run stages a review of at most four bullet rewrites, one summary and up to three skill cards. Finishing saves a separate Tailored Version for that Target Role, so your Resume stays as it was.
You cannot tell beforehand whether tailoring will help.
A run takes time to read, and you would like to know before you start whether the posting asks for much that your resume does not already say.
What SupaCV does: The headroom line counts how many of the posting's must-have terms your Resume already uses before you run anything. It makes no AI call and spends no tailoring run.
How it works
Six steps, from your score to a saved Tailored Version. You decide on every edit.
- 1
Score your resume on the free checker
The checker gives your resume an ATS score out of 100 from six rule-based checks, free and with no credit card. It does not need a posting.
- 2
Add a Target Role with the posting
Paste the job description into a new Target Role, or paste a posting link and import it from Greenhouse, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Workable or Recruitee, or from a career page that publishes standard job posting data, such as Ashby pages. Importing from a link is part of Pro and Career. LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and Naukri links ask you to paste the description instead, and there is no published Chrome extension yet.
- 3
Read the headroom line
On the Target Role's tailoring tab, the headroom line shows your ATS score against this posting and how many of its must-have terms your Resume already uses. It says to expect few changes when your Resume uses little of what the posting asks for. It makes no AI call and spends no tailoring run.
- 4
Create the Tailored Version
Select Create Tailored Version. One AI call drafts the edits, and one more only if its first reply cannot be read. Code then checks the draft before you see it:
- A bullet edit is reverted if it adds a number, a capitalised name such as a company, product or tool, or a list of teams that the original bullet and your Career Vault do not contain.
- A bullet edit is reverted if it turns a shared-credit verb such as "helped" into an ownership verb such as "led", or drops a hedge or a metric.
- A bullet edit is reverted if it names the target company, adds a phrase from our list of overused AI phrases, or changes the bullet so much that it no longer describes the same work.
- A skill is dropped if its words do not appear in your Resume or Career Vault.
- A summary is dropped if it adds a number, a name or a list of teams that your Resume and Career Vault do not contain, or names the target company.
- 5
Review every change
Each rewrite and skill is a card tagged REWRITE or ADD, with a reason, the edit shown against your current text, and Accept and Reject buttons. Bullet reorders sit behind a Show reorders checkbox and are not counted in the score. A chip shows your ATS score against this posting now and if every change is accepted, scored the same way on both sides, and a line lists any posting terms your edits still do not cover.
- 6
Finish
Finish the review, or choose Accept all, which accepts every change you have not rejected and finishes in one step. SupaCV saves the result as a new Tailored Version, separate from the Resume you started with, scores it against the posting with no AI call, and opens it in the editor.
What it does not do
The limits are part of how it works, so they are listed here.
- It is a patch, not a rewrite. A run stages at most four bullet rewrites, one rewritten summary, bullet reorders and up to six skills in at most three groups. Company names, titles, dates, education, certifications and contact details are not part of the edit, and the code that applies the edit never touches them.
- The checks look for specific shapes. A name at the start of a sentence, a name in lower case and a name written in capitals, such as an acronym, are not caught. A number that is in your Career Vault passes even when your Resume does not show it. A rewritten summary has fewer checks than a bullet edit: it is checked for added numbers, names, lists of teams and the target company, but not for a stronger verb or a dropped metric.
- Invented objectives and outcomes are forbidden in the instructions the AI model gets, and code only catches them when they replace most of the bullet. Code catches some invented numbers and names, not all of them. You approve every change, so read each one.
- Your score can stay flat or go down. The review scores your Resume, and the result of accepting everything, the same way against the same posting, and nothing predicts a gain.
- Matching is by words. Each posting term is matched by its own forms and a short list of aliases, so a synonym that is not on that list counts as missing.
- A run with nothing truthful to change is normal. It tells you there is nothing to review, and a Pro run is not counted against the monthly allowance. The AI call still counts toward the monthly AI fair-use budget and the hourly limit.
- A posting is required, and the AI model reads the first 8,000 characters of it. Each AI call is cut off after 50 seconds, so a run is not instant, and tailoring runs are limited to 30 an hour.
- A Tailored Version is a copy made when you finish. It does not follow later edits to the Resume it came from, and finishing is refused if that Resume changed while the review was open.
The score measures how your resume reads against one posting. It is not a prediction of any one company's decision, and no tool can honestly promise interviews.
What each plan includes
This table is the one place the allowance for tailoring lives. It is the same table as on the pricing page.
| Feature | Free | Pro | Career |
|---|---|---|---|
| Target RolesA Target Role is one specific posting you're pursuing: it holds the job description, your company resume, cover letter, and interview prep for that role. Free includes one, with its job match score and keyword gaps. Tailoring and cover letters are on Pro and Career, and Interview Prep is on Career. | 1 in total | 3 per resume | Unlimited |
| Resume tailoringSuggests edits to your resume for a specific posting, each shown for your approval. | Not included | 5 / month | Unlimited* |
| Cover Letter generator | Not included | Included | Included |
| Career VaultA bank of your real achievements and numbers that tailoring and rewrites can draw on. | Not included | Included | Included |
*Unlimited means no monthly count cap. A generous fair-use ceiling on AI usage applies so nobody can abuse it; it resets on the 1st and normal job hunting does not reach it.
From the same Target Role
Tailoring is one tab. The posting you added feeds the others.
The Cover Letter. A Cover Letter is written from the posting and your Resume in one of three tones: professional, enthusiastic or concise. The instructions tell the AI to use only facts from your resume, and you can export the letter as a PDF. A Target Role holds one letter, and writing another replaces it. Nothing checks the letter after it is written, so read it before you send it. The plan table above shows which plans include the Cover Letter generator. For what the letter reads and where it stops, see the AI cover letter generator.
After the Tailored Version, the interview. Interview Sessions run from a Target Role on Career, and use the company's interview playbook when there is one. Two examples of what a playbook page holds: Google and Amazon. Every company has a page you can read without an account, and the Interview Playbook lists all 246 of them.

Does tailoring invent skills or numbers?+
Every bullet edit is checked before the review opens. One that adds a number, a company, product or tool name, or a list of teams that the original bullet and your Career Vault do not contain is reverted, and so is one that turns 'helped' or 'supported' into 'led' or 'owned', or drops a hedge or a metric. A rewritten summary is checked for added numbers, names and lists of teams. Every word of an added skill must already appear in your Resume or Career Vault. Company names, titles, dates, education, certifications and contact details are not part of the edit and cannot change. The checks look for specific shapes, so you still read and approve every change.
What does one tailoring run change?+
At most four bullet rewrites, one rewritten summary, bullet reorders within each experience entry, and up to six skills whose words appear in your Resume or Career Vault. You see each change against your current text and accept or reject it. Nothing is saved as a resume until you finish, and the result is saved as a separate Tailored Version, so your Resume stays as it was.
Will my ATS score go up?+
Not always. Before you run, the headroom line on the Target Role's tailoring tab shows how many of the posting's must-have terms your resume already uses and says when to expect few changes. After a run, the review shows your score against this posting now and if every change is accepted, scored the same way on both sides. The difference can be small, zero or negative. On Pro, a run that stages nothing does not use one of your monthly Tailored Versions.
Do I need a job description to start?+
Not to score. Your free ATS score runs without a posting. Tailoring needs the posting text on a Target Role: paste it, or paste the posting link and Import from Greenhouse, Lever, SmartRecruiters, Workable, Recruitee or a career site that publishes standard job data, such as Ashby pages. LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor and Naukri pages must be pasted as text. Importing from a link is part of Pro and Career; on any plan you can paste the description instead.
