Recommended Roles

Job search ranked by your resume.

Browse postings from company career boards, ranked by a points score from your resume and your preferences. Each posting shows the reasons behind its rank.

On SupaCV the Recommended Roles screen reads postings from company career boards on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby and from job feeds, refreshes them daily and ranks them with a points score you can read. The ranking uses no AI, and Apply opens the original posting.

Where job search goes wrong

Three problems, and the part of the screen that answers each.

A long list, sorted by date alone.

When postings are ordered only by when they went up, the sorting is left to you.

What Recommended Roles does: Recommended Roles ranks postings with a points score from your Resume and your preferences, so the postings that score the most come first.

A ranking you cannot see into.

A list ordered by a score nobody explains gives you no way to judge it.

What Recommended Roles does: Each posting shows the reasons behind its rank, and the ranking is a sum of points, not a model's judgement.

Postings that have already closed.

A posting can stay on a board after the hiring is done.

What Recommended Roles does: The postings are refreshed daily. A closed posting can still show until the next refresh, and the limits below say so.

How it works

Four steps, from an account to the original posting.

  1. 1

    Create a free account

Browsing needs an account, and the account is free. There is no list to see while you are signed out. Once you are in, Recommended Roles is in the dashboard menu.

  2. 2

Add a Resume and set your preferences

The score is worked out from the Resume you edited most recently and the preferences you set. With no Resume there is nothing to rank from, so the screen shows the latest postings and asks you to upload one.

  3. 3

Read the list and the reasons

Postings are ranked by a points score, and the ranking uses no AI. Select a posting to see a bar for each part of the score with the reason beside it, such as the skills that matched. A part the screen has no data for says what is missing instead of showing a bar.

  4. 4

Apply, or save it as a Target Role

Apply opens the original posting in a new tab, and SupaCV does not submit anything for you. Save as target copies the posting into your Target Roles, and the plan table below shows how many each plan can hold.

What it does not do

The limits are part of how it works, so they are listed here.

  • The ranking uses no AI. It adds up points, and a higher score is a larger sum, not a verdict on whether you should apply.
  • Saving a posting as a Target Role is a separate step, and that step does use AI: it starts a job match score that an AI model computes. The score does not change the order of the list, and it can be missing if the model call fails.
  • You need an account to browse. The list is not public, and a signed-out visitor sees none of it.
  • It lists what company boards and job feeds publish. A company that hires somewhere else is not in it, and it is not a search of every job board.
  • The postings are refreshed once a day. A closed posting can still show until the next refresh, and a refresh that fails leaves the previous day's postings in place.
  • Apply opens the original posting in a new tab. SupaCV does not apply for you.

The order is a starting point. Read a posting before you spend time on it.

What each plan includes

The first row is browsing and the second is saving. This is the same table as on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an account to browse?+

Yes. Browsing is free, but it needs an account, because there is no list to see while you are signed out. Creating one takes you to the dashboard, where Recommended Roles is in the menu. A Resume is what the ranking reads, so add one to see the list ranked.

Is the ranking done by AI?+

No. Each posting gets a score from points awarded for matches with your Resume and preferences, and the list is sorted by that score. The ranking uses no AI. Saving a posting as a Target Role is a separate step that starts a job match score computed by an AI model, and that score does not change the order.

Where do the postings come from?+

Company career boards on Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby, and job feeds. They are read once a day, and Apply opens the original posting. It is not a search of every job board, so a company that hires somewhere else is not in it.

What does the ranking read from me?+

The Resume you edited most recently, which can be a Tailored Version if that is the one you changed last, and the preferences you set. Open the preferences from the Recommended Roles screen to change what the score counts.

How many postings can I save?+

That depends on your plan, and the plan table on this page shows the allowance for each. A saved posting becomes a Target Role, which is where tailoring and a Cover Letter work from, so the allowance for Target Roles is the one that counts.

The ranking starts from a Resume. Create an account, add yours and open the list.
