01 / For every Texas Instruments candidate
The process, start to finish.
This playbook covers early-career and campus engineering hiring at Texas Instruments (TI), the track TI is best known for: analog and digital IC design, applications and field applications engineering, product/test engineering, and embedded software. TI's careers page also lists other engineering families (equipment, process, packaging, quality and more) and an internship plus Career Accelerator Program path for new graduates, but candidate reports for those are thin and are not covered here.
Glassdoor's TI interview page lists campus recruiting as how 59% of candidates got their interview. TI's official recruitment-process page gives only an outline: you apply, a recruiter reviews the application, then you have a virtual or in-person interview where TIers cover your technical and behavioral skills, then you get an offer or can ask for feedback.
The page says the interview format is set by the position, so everything beyond that outline comes from candidate reports and shifts by region, role and year. Reported India campus drives often open with an online MCQ test (60 to 75 minutes in several software-role reports), then one or more technical interviews of roughly 30 to 60 minutes, and in many reports an HR round, though some reports have no HR round.
US reports describe a recorded HireVue screen (common in 2013 to 2016 reports; internship reports from Nov 2025 in the Philippines and Apr 2026 also describe it), then phone or video interviews, sometimes a 10 to 15 minute project presentation, and in several reports a Dallas onsite of two or three interviews of 45 to 60 minutes with pairs of engineers or managers.
Recent Dallas reports are lighter: applications-engineer reports from early 2026 describe multiple rounds (three in one report) mixing behavioral and basic technical questions, and a Feb 2026 internship report describes one interview with the department's team lead. Reported loops range from about 2 to 4 rounds. Glassdoor's average across 2,797 reports is 19 days.
TI publishes five values as what it looks for in future TIers and tells candidates to be ready to connect them to their own experience, but it publishes no scoring rubric. Reported technical questions center on fundamentals: op-amps, RC filters, MOSFETs, and C and memory concepts. Reports say interviewers expect you to draw and think out loud.
Stage 1: Application and recruiter review (often via campus career fair)
varies
Officially, you submit an application, a recruiter reviews it to see whether you fit the role, and applications stay open until the role is filled. TI says the time to hear back varies, because interviews continue until a match is found. Many candidates first meet recruiters at university career fairs or on-campus interviews, and a Feb 2026 Dallas internship report describes applying through LinkedIn and being contacted by a recruiter. Timing depends on the role and on the campus recruiting calendar. The stages after this one are candidate-reported, are not on TI's official page, and do not follow one fixed order across regions.
Stage 2: Online assessment or written knowledge test
60 to 75 minutes in several India software-role reports; varies by role and region
Mostly a campus-drive stage in India. Software-role reports describe MCQs split into aptitude (20 questions in 30 minutes) and a technical section (OS, DBMS, C, memory, embedded C, 8051 or CS fundamentals) inside a 60 to 75 minute test. Shortlists are small (about 24 of 250 in one report, about 21 and about 13 in others). Design-role reports differ: a Jul 2025 Bengaluru campus report describes a test where you pick two domains of 20 questions at 45 minutes each plus an aptitude section, and FACE Prep's May 2026 guide lists about 20 aptitude questions (about 20 minutes) and about 20 technical questions per profile (about 30 minutes). Some US and Malaysia reports describe a short knowledge test instead, for example a 20-question basic electronics paper of about half an hour in Kuala Lumpur, and a parallel-circuit current and resistance problem in a Texas technician hiring visit. Not every report describes this stage.
Candidate-reported and mainly India campus drives; not on TI's official page
Stage 3: Recorded video interview (HireVue), behavioral
about 20 to 30 minutes in older reports
Candidates record answers to roughly 4 to 8 behavioral questions, with timed windows (about 30 seconds to 1 minute to prepare and 1 to 3 minutes to answer in the reports that say). One report mentions a 48-hour deadline to complete it. Most full-time reports date from 2013 to 2016. A Nov 2025 Philippines internship report (HireVue, then a phone interview) and an Apr 2026 internship report (5 video answers, 4 written responses and 3 multiple-choice questions, about 1 minute to prepare and 2 minutes to answer, one attempt) show the step is still used, at least for internships. No total length is stated for the 2026 format.
Full-time reports are mostly 2013 to 2016; internship reports from 2025 and 2026 also describe it
Stage 4: Phone, video or on-campus screening interview
about 15 to 60 minutes
Run by a recruiter, an engineer, a hiring manager or a team lead. It often opens with resume questions and moves to basic technical checks (op-amps, MOSFETs, filters) plus behavioral questions. Reported lengths run from a short phone screen of about 15 minutes to a one-hour interview. In India campus drives this is the main technical interview, reported at about 30 to 60 minutes, with a resume and project walk-through and C or DSA coding (on paper in an on-campus IIT report, in a Notepad window in a remote Bengaluru intern report, and shared through the meeting comments in one 2023 campus report). A Feb 2026 Dallas internship report describes a single round with the department's team lead.
Stage 5: Project presentation
about 10 to 15 minutes of presenting, then questions
Reported for US applications, product engineering and rotation roles, mostly in 2013 to 2019 reports, plus a May 2024 Dallas product engineer report. You present a short slide deck (3 to 5 slides in one report) on a past technical project, by webcam or screen share in the reports that say how, then answer questions on design choices, the alternatives you considered, and related technical topics.
Candidate-reported for some US roles; not every loop has one
Stage 6: Final interviews (onsite, often Dallas in US reports)
45 to 60 minutes per interview in several reports
Reports describe 2 to 3 interviews, each with a pair of engineers or managers, covering both behavioral and technical questions; one 2012 report adds two 20-minute interviews with a manager. Reports mention a panel followed by a solo interview, and a team lunch or dinner. TI paid for flights, hotel or a rental car in several US reports. One 2024 analog design report describes 6 hours of all-technical interviews with 4 engineers, and a May 2024 Dallas report describes two in-person rounds, one behavioral and one technical.
Candidate-reported; format and length vary by role and year
Stage 7: HR interview (campus drives)
varies
Shows up mainly in India campus reports. It is conversational: why TI, interests, plans for higher studies, and for interns whether you would stay if offered a pre-placement offer. FACE Prep describes it as the final stage and typically shorter than the technical rounds. Some reports have no separate HR round (an Aug 2024 Bengaluru embedded intern report, an Oct 2023 Bengaluru intern report, and a Dec 2025 IIT report where candidates were selected straight after the technical interview). Whether you get one depends on the region and the program.
Candidate-reported, India campus reports; skipped in some loops
Stage 8: Decision and offer
19 days on average (Glassdoor, all roles)
A recruiter follows up with the decision. TI's page says that if you get an offer you should review the role scope, responsibilities and benefits and complete any next steps from your recruiter, and that if you do not get one you should request feedback where possible. Glassdoor's overall average is 19 days across 2,797 reports; its analog design page puts analog roles at 15 days and gives 24 days as the company-wide average. India campus results can come out the same day. A few 2025 reports say the candidate never heard back or that silence for a week meant no offer.

The framework.
What we are looking for in a TIer (TI values)
01
Trustworthy
02
Inclusive
03
Innovative
04
Competitive
05
Results-oriented
TI's recruitment-process page (careers.ti.com) lists these five values under its What we are looking for in a TIer heading and says they define who TIers are and how they behave, and what TI wants in future TIers. In the Before your interview tips it tells candidates to understand the five values and be ready to share how they connect with their experience.
The About TI page on ti.com (Our values section) lists the same five values, with the last heading written Results oriented without the hyphen. TI does not publish a rubric that maps interview questions to these values, so the value tags on questions are inferences from wording, set only where the question plainly asks about working with diverse people.
