01 / For every Arm candidate
The process, start to finish.
Arm is best known for designing processor and GPU IP, so this playbook covers its engineering track: CPU/SoC design and verification, embedded and systems software, and the Emerging Talent (intern and graduate) programs. Arm's hiring-process page lists four steps: Apply, a First Round (a HireVue digital interview or a telephone interview about your interests and the technical skills for the role), Follow-up interviews that go deeper into role-relevant technical topics with the Talent Acquisition team, the hiring manager and potential teammates, and an offer.
Arm's digital interview page, written for Emerging Talent applicants, adds that some roles include a short technical assessment. Arm says the steps vary by role and location, and a recruiter guides you through them. Its internships and graduates pages call the two interviews Initial and Final. Candidate reports add detail but are thin and mostly old.
In the two campus reports found (a 2020 virtual intern drive and an FTE drive of unstated date), a written or online test came before the interviews: aptitude, C, digital electronics, OS and computer architecture in one, and CS fundamentals, computer architecture and two C or C++ coding problems in the other. The technical interviews in the reports centre on computer architecture (pipelining, caches, MMU, virtual memory), operating systems and low-level C or bit manipulation.
One Blind post from September 2026, written before the poster's interview and with no replies, says an Arm onsite is split into a coding round described as AI-based, a 10x mindset session, system design and a technical retrospective; nobody has confirmed what these involve. Arm publishes a culture framework called the 10x Mindset (ten factors in two lenses, One Arm and Accelerate Impact).
Its internships and graduates pages describe the interviews in wording that matches several factors (moving at pace, challenging skilfully, taking ownership, navigating ambiguity, delivering as One Arm, building extraordinary teams, pushing boundaries) but never name the 10x Mindset, and Arm publishes no scoring rubric. Public candidate evidence is thin. Glassdoor, Indeed, Gradcracker and Interview Query could not be checked, and most of the available question-level reports are campus or intern accounts from 2017 to 2021.
Stage 1: Application
varies
Depends on program and region. You apply to an Emerging Talent program or an Experienced role. Emerging Talent windows open by region (US and Canada and Israel and Europe in September 2026, UK interns and graduates in October 2026, India in July and November 2026), and some roles list their own deadlines. Arm's UK early careers page recommends applying early because UK applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. One UK intern posting (Intern Program - Engineering Pathways, posted 5 October 2026) closes on 31 October 2026 and says Arm aims to review applications within two weeks of the closing date, with exceptions in peak periods. Arm advises aligning with one core discipline even if you apply to several roles, and you are expected to explain your interest in that discipline in interviews. A recruiter then explains the process and supports you through it.
Stage 2: Online assessment (campus drives)
2+ hours (one 2020 campus report)
Reported at campus drives, not on Arm's careers pages. A 2020 virtual intern drive for a verification role opened with a written test of 30 aptitude items and 70 technical items (the report does not say whether these are marks or questions) covering digital electronics, C output guessing, OS concepts, computer architecture and circuits, lasting 2+ hours. An FTE drive (page updated September 2024, drive date not stated) used an online test on CS fundamentals and computer architecture and organization with two coding problems in C or C++, and results came the same day. A 2020 Cambridge SDE-ML post describes two code challenges plus multiple-choice and oral questions (order not stated). The GeeksforGeeks reports do not name a country. In those two campus reports the test came before the interviews and no HireVue step is mentioned, so whether it replaces the HireVue first round is not stated.

Stage 3: First round: HireVue digital interview or phone screen
HireVue: 7-day window to complete; Arm suggests setting aside about 1 hour
Arm's hiring-process page says the first round is either a digital (HireVue) or telephone interview that looks at your interests and the technical skills for the day-to-day work of the role. The Emerging Talent FAQ adds motivations. The digital interview page is written for Emerging Talent applicants: you record a webcam answer or type one, you get preparation time after each question, you can re-attempt video answers as many times as you like, and depending on the role you may be asked for a short technical assessment. Arm does not say how many questions there are. For experienced hires Arm describes only HireVue or phone; several Blind posters (2022 to 2025) describe a first round with the hiring manager (one expects 30 minutes), and one firmware candidate reports an initial Zoom technical screen that was job related rather than LeetCode style. One Blind post mentions a friend's HireVue technical interview for an intern position, with no details.
Stage 4: Follow-up interviews (called the Final Interview for interns and graduates)
varies by team and level; reports mention 1 hour each (2017 UK intern) and one 90-minute slot (Blind)
Arm lists a single Follow-up step: more in-depth conversations with hiring managers and potential teammates on technical topics, problem solving and team fit, where you may also meet the Talent Acquisition team and employees who started in similar roles. For interns and graduates the careers pages name the last interview the Final Interview, where you meet potential teammates and leaders. Candidates report one to four interviews. A 2017 UK intern had four one-hour interviews with different departments in a single day. A 2020 verification intern had two technical rounds after the written test. A 2021 Cambridge applicant had one online interview. A Blind poster interviewing for a Staff Software Engineer role expects three rounds and says they were told there would be no LeetCode. Topics covered computer architecture, OS, C or C++, bit manipulation and resume projects. Blind posters for a senior design verification role (2023) and an SoC design role in Austin (2025) mention panel interviews, and another asks what to expect in a 90-minute interview for a CPU performance modeling role. A 2026 Software Engineer report from South Korea describes a round that combined a presentation with a programming test. One Blind poster (September 2026), who had not yet interviewed, says their onsite is split into a coding round described as AI-based, a 10x mindset session, system design and a technical retrospective. Nobody replied to confirm what these involve.
Stage 5: Offer
varies
Arm says the offer sets out your role, compensation and benefits, and that in peak periods the contract can take up to 48 hours to arrive after verbal acceptance. Timing before the offer varies by candidate and team. A 2017 UK intern got a call a few days after the interviews and the offer about three weeks after that. A 2021 Cambridge applicant was told to expect an answer in a week and got a rejection after three. On AmbitionBox, 64% of candidates for Arm India report an interview-to-offer process of less than two weeks. One Blind poster says a Principal-level (G6) design verification interview loop produced an offer the same evening, though for a lower-grade (G5) role. Arm publishes no feedback policy for interview candidates.

Arm publishes the 10x Mindset on careers.arm.com/life-at-arm as how Arm thinks, works and delivers. It has ten factors in two lenses: One Arm (factors 1 to 5) and Accelerate Impact (factors 6 to 10); the names above match that page. Arm does not publish an interview scoring rubric, and the life-at-arm page does not mention hiring or interviews.
However, the internships and graduates pages describe the Initial Interview as a chance to show how you move at pace, challenge skilfully, take ownership and navigate ambiguity, and the Final Interview as meeting people who deliver as One Arm, where Arm wants to see how you build connections, contribute to extraordinary teams and keep pushing boundaries, and how your mindset aligns with purpose, impact and resilience. Those pages never use the name 10x Mindset.

An October 2026 intern job posting has a 10x Mindset section that links to the 10x Mindset page and says Arm looks for people inspired by that way of working. A single Blind post from September 2026 lists a 10x mindset session in an upcoming onsite, but the poster had not yet interviewed and the post has no replies. Spelling differs: the culture page says Challenge skillfully and the internships page says challenge skilfully.
The careers.arm.com/10x-mindset page is narrative copy and engineer quotes with no list of factors. No candidate report ties a specific question below to a named factor, so no question is tagged with one.
