How Johnson & Johnson Interviews in 2026: Process, Questions & What They Score
Compiled from 13 public sources: candidate interview reports, coaching guides, and Johnson & Johnson's own hiring pages. Interview processes change and vary by role, team, level, and region. This is one well-documented shape of Johnson & Johnson's interviews to prepare against, not a script of what your interview will be. Confirm specifics with your recruiter. SupaCV is not affiliated with or endorsed by Johnson & Johnson.
Johnson & Johnson is best known for pharmaceuticals (the Innovative Medicine segment, formerly branded Janssen) and medical technology (J&J MedTech); the consumer health business was separated as Kenvue in 2023, so consumer-goods roles are no longer part of J&J hiring. This dossier covers the corporate professional track that all of those businesses share through careers.jnj.com: scientific and R&D roles, quality and regulatory, supply chain, and commercial and sales roles, plus the early-career internship, co-op and leadership development programs that run on the same application flow. J&J publishes a five-step hiring path (Get inspired, Explore new roles, Apply, Interview, Offer) and states that interviews are conducted digitally in one of two formats: a pre-recorded interview where you record answers to questions the company sends, or a live video interview of 30 minutes to one hour. J&J does not publish an interview scorecard or a named competency rubric that this research could fetch. It does publish Our Credo, its values framework, and its own interview-prep content tells candidates to understand the Credo before interviewing, so the Credo is listed here as the published framework. J&J job postings also reference "Leadership Imperatives", but no official page enumerating those items could be fetched, so they are not treated as a framework here. Durations below are given only where a source states them; J&J itself publishes almost no stage timings.
The Process
- 1
Online application through the J&J careers site · varies
Create an account, upload a resume and submit; a confirmation email follows. J&J states jobs stay posted for a minimum of one week and that because of response volume it may take several weeks for the recruiter or hiring manager to work through applications. Varies by role volume and business segment.
- 2
Online assessment (personality, situational judgement, or cognitive) · varies
Third-party guides report a personality questionnaire (described as Hogan-based, 170 to 220 items) and, for some roles, a situational judgement test or a cognitive test covering logical, numerical and verbal reasoning. Not mentioned on any official J&J page fetched, so treat as role-dependent and region-dependent rather than universal.
- 3
Recruiter or HR screen · varies
A phone or video conversation covering background, motivation and logistics. Reported by third-party guides; J&J's own FAQ says only that in most cases you meet the hiring manager or other team members. Varies by role and whether the pre-recorded round replaces it.
- 4
Pre-recorded (on-demand) video interview · around 10 minutes for the submission
J&J states you record answers to questions it sends, can review and re-record answers twice before submitting, and that submissions are usually around 10 minutes in length. Third-party guides report roughly 2 to 5 questions with about 30 seconds of prep and about two minutes to answer each.
- 5
Live video interview with the hiring manager or team · 30 minutes to one hour
J&J states live video interviews take between 30 minutes and one hour and are conducted online in much the same way as a traditional interview. One guide widens the range to 10 to 30 minutes or an hour depending on role.
- 6
Panel or on-site interviews, with a scientific presentation for research roles · varies
Reported as one or more in-depth behavioral and technical rounds, sometimes as a panel with several team members. For research scientist roles one guide describes a dedicated presentation of your own research followed by panel one-on-ones. Varies by level and function.
- 7
Assessment centre (some roles and early-career programs) · varies
Described as an optional additional round with group activities and case studies for specific roles. Only one fetched source reports it, so treat it as unconfirmed and role-specific rather than standard.
- 8
Offer, then background check and screening · varies
J&J states the offer letter details the terms of the role, benefits and other information. Third-party guides report the offer is conditional pending background checks and, in some cases, drug screening. Total reported interview rounds are commonly 2 to 4 depending on role and department.
Evaluation Framework
Our Credo
Our Credo is the values framework Johnson & Johnson publishes at jnj.com/credo. It is written as four responsibilities to four stakeholder groups, listed above in the order J&J publishes them, using the opening sentence of each of the four paragraphs verbatim. Each paragraph continues beyond that opening sentence with further specific commitments: the patients paragraph continues into quality, value, cost, pricing and fair profit for business partners; the employees paragraph continues into an inclusive environment, respecting diversity and dignity, fair compensation, safe working conditions, equal opportunity, and just and ethical leadership; the communities paragraph continues into supporting health access, good citizenship, taxes, and protecting the environment; the stockholders paragraph continues into "Business must make a sound profit" and funding research, innovation and reserves. Those continuations are not reproduced verbatim here, so treat the four listed sentences as the opening statement of each responsibility, not the complete text of the document. J&J describes the Credo as the statement of "the values that guide our decision-making," a moral compass rather than a hiring scorecard. It is included here because J&J's own careers content points candidates at it: the official first-round interview guide tells candidates the Credo guides company culture and to know the company's mission before interviewing, and third-party guides report Credo-alignment questions in live rounds. Two cautions. First, J&J publishes no interview rubric, scorecard or named competency set that this research could fetch, so do not treat the four responsibilities as scored dimensions. Second, J&J job postings on careers.jnj.com repeatedly reference "Leadership Imperatives" as the company's behavioral expectations, and third-party sources (a Glassdoor candidate interview review and unofficial academic case-study writeups, none of them an official J&J page) name them as Connect, Shape, Lead and Deliver, but no official J&J page enumerating and defining them could be fetched even on a repeated fresh search, so they are deliberately excluded from the framework list above.

Coach's Tips
Read Our Credo before the first round and be able to name its four responsibilities in order, starting with patients, doctors and nurses. J&J's own first-round interview guide tells candidates the Credo guides company culture and to know the company's mission before interviewing, and Credo-alignment questions are reported in live rounds.
Structure behavioral answers as situation, action, result. J&J's own guidance asks for exactly those three parts and, notably, does not name the STAR method anywhere on its behavioral-questions page, so do not open by announcing a framework. One third-party guide recommends adding a short reflection at the end, which fits J&J's stated preference for what you learned from a challenge rather than the challenge itself.
Treat the pre-recorded video round as a real interview round, not a formality. J&J states you can review and re-record twice and that submissions run around 10 minutes; third-party guides report roughly 2 to 5 questions with about 30 seconds of prep and about two minutes per answer. Rehearse a 90 second version of every core story so it fits.
Know which J&J you are interviewing with. Since the Kenvue separation the company is Innovative Medicine (the former Janssen) plus MedTech, so a consumer-brands answer signals stale research. Name the specific franchise, therapeutic area or device platform the role sits in.
Have at least two quality and compliance stories ready regardless of function, including one where you escalated or stopped something. Quality, thoroughness and integrity questions recur across independent sources, and quality is the standard the Credo sets in its opening responsibility.
Expect a personality questionnaire or situational judgement test in some processes and answer it consistently rather than strategically; third-party guides describe a long personality inventory of roughly 170 to 220 items, which punishes inconsistent self-presentation.
