01 / For every Autodesk candidate
The process, start to finish.
This covers the software engineering track, the role with the most interview reports listed on Glassdoor (116 under Software Engineer). Autodesk's careers FAQ gives the official outline: a recruiter conversation, then the hiring manager, then sometimes a functional assessment, then an interview team of typically 3-4 people. It says timing varies by role and location and tells candidates to ask the recruiter for role-specific details. The FAQ gives no total round count.
Candidate reports on Interview Query put loops at 4 to 6 rounds and say the content changes a lot by team, while a LeetCode report and a Glassdoor report each describe three-round loops. Some loops are LeetCode-style DSA. Others are practical tasks, such as coding a banking system or building a React app that calls an API. C++ teams, especially in India and for interns, probe C++ and OOP fundamentals in depth.
Online assessments on CodeSignal or Scaler are reported for campus, intern and India hiring, but they are not part of the official outline. Autodesk does not typically give specific feedback after interviews. Its FAQ asks candidates to complete interviews and assessments without real-time help from AI tools or other people unless Autodesk says otherwise, while saying AI is fine for preparation. No interview scoring rubric was found on the Autodesk pages checked.
Autodesk does publish its culture framework, One ORBIT, and the careers FAQ tells candidates to learn it and speak to the values that mean the most to them. It is included below on that basis, not as a confirmed scoring rubric. Glassdoor rates difficulty at about 2.9 of 5 company-wide and 3.2 for Software Engineer. Glassdoor's average process length is 32 days across 1,456 interviews for all roles, and 17 days across only 28 Software Engineer interviews.
Stage 1: Online coding assessment (reported for campus, intern and India roles; not in Autodesk's official outline)
about 1 hour (one report); otherwise varies
Reports describe a CodeSignal or Scaler test, usually with four problems (one older campus report had three), ranging from easy to hard (arrays, strings, sliding window, prefix/suffix, matrix, trees, DP). One Chennai report mentions a test scored out of 600. One October 2026 intern report mentions a HireVue interview invitation after the CodeSignal test, and one Q3 2026 Interview Query report mentions an 'AI interview round' without detail. Whether a test is used varies by region, level and team: the London and Toronto reports do not mention one, while a 2019 San Francisco report began with an online test.
Stage 2: Recruiter screen
about 30 minutes (one report)
The official first step. Reports describe a conversation about background, interest in Autodesk and logistics. One Interview Query report describes a thirty-minute recruiter screening. Order can vary; one candidate met the hiring manager without a recruiter call first.
Stage 3: Hiring manager conversation
varies
The official second step. Reports say it covers a resume and project walkthrough plus behavioral questions (conflict, why someone might not want to work with you, and recently how you use AI tools). Length and placement vary by team; in some loops the manager round comes last (a LeetCode SDE1 report lists two technical rounds then a hiring manager round, and a Glassdoor report ends with an HR and managerial round).
Stage 4: Functional assessment / technical screen
varies
Autodesk says candidates may be asked to take a functional assessment but does not define it, so reading it as the technical screen for software roles is an inference. Formats reported: a live DSA problem with complexity follow-ups, coding a banking system (OOP design), completing functions over screen share, a React app that calls an API (Toronto), and a 45-minute CoderPad session mixing frontend and backend. The format varies by team, so ask the recruiter.
Stage 5: Interview team / panel (final rounds)
varies
Officially an interview team of typically 3-4 people; the FAQ does not say whether this is one panel session or several back-to-back interviews. Reports include an onsite with three technical rounds and one non-technical round (San Francisco, 2019). Others describe an hour-long experience deep dive with a senior engineer and coding with a principal engineer (London), a roughly 3-hour session split between technical and behavioral, and a roughly 2-hour full stack design exercise (both India). Content spans DSA, system design, C++/OOP fundamentals and team fit. Length varies by level and team, and some candidates had extra rounds added.
Stage 6: Decision and status update
varies; Glassdoor averages 17 days (28 Software Engineer interviews) to 32 days (1,456 interviews, all roles) for the whole process
Autodesk says it does not typically provide specific interview feedback but updates candidates on their status as soon as possible after the last interview. Interview Query reports a 30-day process length. One SDE1 candidate on LeetCode said the process took almost a month. Individual reports range widely: campus processes reported as short as 1 day, a 2019 San Francisco process took 3 weeks, and Glassdoor's averages by job title run from 1 day to 330 days. Several reports mention generic rejection emails or slow scheduling.
Total rounds: the official outline lists the stages but gives no total. Reports range from 3 rounds (LeetCode, Glassdoor) to 4-6 (Interview Query) and more for some onsite loops, depending on team, level and region.

Source: autodesk.com/company/culture, which says the acronym One ORBIT helps Autodeskers remember what it means to be an Autodesker: One Autodesk, our way of working, and five values (Optimism, Relentless, Brave, Ingenious and Trusted). That is seven named items. The page headlines "our way of working" as How we work, with the tagline fast or far, we go together.
It then lists five value statements in this order: we believe in better; we are unstoppable in our pursuit of results; we take smart risks and make bold decisions; we reimagine what is possible; we earn and build trust through every interaction. Under "How can I stand out in my interviews?", the careers FAQ tells candidates to learn the Culture Guide, One ORBIT, and to speak to the values that mean the most to them.

Autodesk does not say interviewers score candidates against these items, so treat this as a values framework to prepare for, not a confirmed rubric. A 2023 In the Fold blog post lists older values (courage, customer-centricity, collaboration, impact); the current culture page supersedes them.
