The process, start to finish.
Centerview Partners is an independent investment bank that lists advisory services on its website (strategic advisory, independent board advice, restructuring and recapitalization, capital advisory); a Poets&Quants article on the Vault ranking describes it as an M&A advisory firm. This playbook covers the track the firm is best known for: the investment banking analyst program (summer analyst for college juniors and full-time analyst), mainly as run in the US.
The official careers page says the firm recruits formally on a number of undergraduate campuses and informally from a broad range of schools, is open to all academic disciplines, and says finance knowledge can be taught to anyone with passion and drive. Neither the careers page nor the main site describes the interview process or publishes an evaluation framework.
The main site lists four firm values (Excellence, Client Focus, Collaboration, Community) but does not present them as hiring or interview criteria, so no framework is included here. Third-party prep guides describe a live process for the US (none names individual candidates; one lists forum and review sites as general sources): a short phone or video screen, a first round of about two 30-minute interviews (one technical, one behavioral), and a Superday of about 4 to 6 back-to-back 30-minute interviews, often with two interviewers each.
The US-oriented guides describe no written test; London differs and the London sources conflict (a 25-minute math test in one, HireVue, psychometric tests and a 1-hour written exercise in another). Superdays mix finance technicals (three-statement changes, EV bridges with leases and NCI, LBO returns), discussion of recent Centerview deals, brainteasers and market sizing, and quirky fit questions. Offers reportedly come within days.
Associate (MBA) hiring and the London process are mentioned only briefly because public detail on them is thin and inconsistent.
Stage 1: Application (careers portal or on-campus recruiting)
varies
Apply through the Apply Now form on the careers page (name, email, phone and resume required; pick one office, because applications for multiple offices are not reviewed) or through on-campus recruiting at select schools. The page says resumes that fit current needs get a response and others are kept on file, and it asks candidates not to send unsolicited emails to multiple people at the firm. One guide says applications often include a transcript and a short Why Centerview statement, and another says coffee chats, alumni conversations and campus info sessions come before the screen. Timing varies by cycle and school, and published windows are third-party estimates. One guide puts first contact about 2 weeks after applying.
Stage 2: Phone or video screen
30 minutes
One guide describes a 30-minute screen with one analyst that is technical from the start (for example deferred revenue through the three statements, EV and EV/EBITDA arithmetic) plus Why investment banking. Another guide folds this into a 30 to 45 minute phone or Zoom first round with 1 to 2 interviewers.
Stage 3: First round interviews
About 60 minutes (2 x 30 minutes); one guide gives 30 to 45 minutes
Two back-to-back 30-minute interviews, one technical and one behavioral, per one guide. Another describes a single 30 to 45 minute call mixing resume walkthrough with DCF, EV-to-equity bridge and accretion-dilution. One guide says the Superday invitation comes about a week after the first round.
Stage 4: Math test
25 minutesLondon only
One guide says London candidates take a 25-minute math test at the start of the assessment center, before five 30-minute interviews, and says it is the only formal timed written assessment in the process. Not reported for US offices. A second London-focused guide instead describes a 1-hour written analytical exercise, so the London format is unclear.
single source for the math test; conflicts with another London guide
Stage 5: Superday
About 2.5 hours of interviews (5 x 30 minutes) per one guide; others say several hours
In-person, back-to-back interviews. Counts vary by source: 5 interviews of 30 minutes with 2 interviewers each, sometimes a sixth; 3 to 6 interviews with partners, VPs and associates; or 4 to 6 interviews including a founding partner or senior MD. Content mixes finance technicals, a recent Centerview deal, brainteasers and mental math, market sizing, situational prompts and fit questions. One guide mentions a breakfast or lunch with bankers where interpersonal maturity is assessed. The same guide says Centerview does not publish its Superday format.
Stage 6: Decision and offer
Same day to a few days
Guides report decisions the same day to a few days after the Superday (one says 2 to 3 business days), with short windows to decide. One guide puts the whole process at about 26 days on average.
A tag is the condition given in brackets in the stage name.

What is an example of when your integrity was questioned, and how did you react?
Sample question, Accounting and valuation technicals
Given $100 of deferred revenue recognized over 2 years, walk me through the three statements at year 1.
Tests three-statement linkage: how deferred revenue unwinds into revenue on the income statement and the liability on the balance sheet.
Sample question, Deals, LBO and markets
Which yields a greater return: an IRR of 25% over 5 years or an IRR of 30% over 3 years?
Tests converting IRR and holding period into a money multiple so 25% over 5 years can be compared with 30% over 3 years.
